Singapore Simplifies Arrival Card Process
Travellers will be able to complete the enhanced Singapore Arrival Card (SGAC) through the MyICA mobile app from September 30 by using a passport-scanning feature to automatically fill in their details. The enhanced arrival card had previously been available through the ICA website.
Scan Passport to Fill in Details
One of the key changes is the ability to scan the passport’s biometric page instead of manually entering all the required information.
The passport-scanning option will also be extended to Singapore citizens, permanent residents and long-term pass holders. Previously, this feature was restricted to foreign visitors.
Travellers planning to use the new features should update the MyICA app to the latest version before submitting their arrival card from September 30.
Singapore Arrival Card Available in 19 Languages
The enhanced Singapore Arrival Card will also make the process more accessible to international travellers.
Seven additional languages — Bahasa Indonesia, Dutch, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, Filipino and Italian — have been introduced, taking the total number of supported languages to 19.
Who Needs to Submit the Singapore Arrival Card?
The Singapore Arrival Card is an electronic declaration required for travellers entering Singapore. However, transit passengers who do not clear immigration are exempt from submitting it. Certain Singapore residents travelling through the Woodlands and Tuas land checkpoints are also exempt.
With passport scanning, automatic form filling and additional language options, the updated MyICA app is expected to make completing Singapore’s arrival formalities more convenient for travellers from September 30.
